‘Just the Two of Us’
On a family trip to Sri Lanka in 2003, my little sister had her coming-of-age ‘Saree Ceremony’.
The heat was almost unbearable. My little brother, who was only five or six at the time, found a spot of shade in a doorway and sat down with a cousin. The two of them sat there, red-faced and sweaty while the party went on.
This piece is the 2nd in a series I am working on celebrating Sri Lankan textiles, colours and culture.
